Hey Assata,

If you're thinking, "Didn't she send this already?" You're absolutely right! My first draft slipped through the cracks – a classic case of multitasking gone awry. But hey, we're all about second chances, right? So, let me share a bit more of my journey as we dive into your do-over edition!

Unleashing Your Power:

In our recent newsletters, we've delved into the depths of our values, understanding how they guide us. Now, it's time for the grand finale – taking bold, unapologetic action!

The Big Revelation:

No Permission Needed! We're conditioned to seek approval, yet sometimes we wait for permission to pursue our dreams. Are you holding back, waiting for validation?  While respect is crucial, sometimes, silently wait for permission, especially concerning our well-being and success is not ok! We seek approval to: show up as we are, be a beginner, protective parents, new employees, the list goes on! Which approval are you waiting for and from whom before taking that crucial step? Time is ticking, and your dreams are waiting – no permission required!

Look at the problem again, and if it's a permission issue let your values help you gain traction.

Storytime

Back in Trinidad, living in an apartment with shared access, a neighbor started blocking our exit. This neighbor lived there all her life and had a generational relationship with the owners of the compound. Despite cordial conversations, it continued. One day, finding a ladder and ironing board blocking our door, when I needed to collect my daughter from school and the key to my front door broke, I'd had enough. Instead of being overly cautious and thinking about all the should's for being a good neighbor, I called the police. It wasn't the norm, but it was a realization – while trying to keep the peace, our well-being and freedom were at stake. Long story short the exit was cleared well expect for the other neighbor's doorway because I think she just wanted peace.

Our beliefs can keep us firmly rooted in an un-serving lie, risking what matters most to us. Remembering our values offers ease, reframing and a path to freedom, something so different from what we've ever imagined. If you're ready to rewrite your narrative, let's explore if it's permission you're truly seeking.

Reflect and Connect:

1. Identify Where You Pause and the real reason why:

  • Reflect on areas in your work and life where you've been seeking permission or approval
  • Ask yourself: do I really need consent for this  e.g exceeding company budget; do I need support/help to do it  e.g. preparing a tax return or do I want validation e.g. "you did a great job, you're a great teacher"?
  • Who do you usually look to for approval? Why?

2. Declare Your Intentions:

  • Accept your role in it and set intentions for how you want to show up in those areas.

3. Break Free:

  • Consider the values will guide your actions when consent is not what is stopping you e.g. Honoring your value for learning, accountability, or responsibility influence seeking our people or resources to help with your tax return because it reminds you of what matters most and meeting that need really releases those feel good hormones and builds confidence.
  • Explore simple actions you can take to align with your values e.g. make list of all the people that can help

I want you to make YOUR Move: Reclaim your path without waiting for permission.

Challenge yourself this week. Take an action step aligned with your values for a challenge your are facing. Then just notice the shift in your energy and impact.

Reply to this email, I would love to hear about your revelations!

Remember you're a powerhouse of potential. When you don't need permission, stop looking for it!

To your unapologetic journey,
Coach Assata
